About Jennifer Chai

Jennifer Chai, DACM, LAc. is a graduate of Pacific College of Health Sciences, where she earned her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and her Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from SUNY-StonyBrook University.

Dr. Chai began her medical career in research at Columbia University's N.Y Presbyterian Hospital -New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she worked for over 7 yrs. at the National Institute of Mental Health funded clinical trials researching various mental disorders. She also worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator for Urology Practice based in Midtown, NY as a Clinical Coordinator for multiple Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials.

As an acupuncturist, Dr. Chai worked in the Rehab/Detox Unit at St. John's Riverside Hospital (Yonkers) treating patients with addictions and withdrawal symptoms associated with substance abuse. She also worked at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Hospital in Downtown, Manhattan providing acupuncture treatments to in-patients in the Rehabilitation, Geriatric and Post-Surgical departments. With years of experience in the biochemical world in Western Medicine, she has integrated her knowledge and experience in both Western and Eastern Medicine into her private practice for the past 17 years. Her areas of expertise include pain management, stress management, infertility, women’s health, digestive disorders, and mental-emotional health.

She concurrently works as an acupuncturist in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Department, specializing in treating patients with insomnia, hot flashes, pain, neuropathy, anxiety, fatigue, and other treatment induced side effects. Jennifer is also part of the research team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, that are currently running clinical trials investigating the benefits of acupuncture in cancer-treatment related side effects.

Jennifer is extremely excited about joining a wonderful team of patient-oriented practitioners and staff at Evia Medical Center.

Jennifer enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, boating, and swimming. She also has a passion for rescuing injured animals. She has worked with animal rescues for many years and has rehabbed all kinds of wild animals. She and her husband currently work with cat rescues doing TNR (Trap Neuter and Return) in efforts to control the overpopulation of feral cats.

She currently lives in Saint James, Long Island NY with her husband, 2 sons, 4 cats and their new puppy.
